Police arrest six related to murder of SDPI leader Ashraf Kalayi

Bantwal: The police have taken over six persons into custody relating to the murder of Social Democratic Party of India's Ammunje unit president, Ashraf Kalayi, at Benjanapadavu by motor-bike born assailants who were masked. The police have been questioning the arrested men and putting together pieces of information from them.

Although shops and establishments have reopened at B C Road, Kalladka, Melkar etc, they are yet to witness brisk business as in the past. It has been 28 days since prohibitory orders were issued in the taluk, and even during this period, incidents of murder, assault, stabbing and stone pelting had happened.

The Rapic Action Force (RAF) conducted march past in communally sensitive areas like Kalladka, Melkar and Rarangipet on Friday. RAF will lend support to Karnataka State Reserve Police and district arimed police force that have already been looking after law and order situation in the taluk alongside local police officials.

Three separate teams under the directions of IGP, Harishekaran, are working to investigate Kalladka attack incident, stone pelting incident, and Benjanapadavu murder case. Operation to keep close watch on the situation is being led by over five teams under the direct supervision of ADGP, Alok Mohan.
