Police bust illegal sand mining at banks of Nethravathi

Mangaluru: Police have busted a network of illegal sand mining on the banks of River Nethravati at Adyar and seized items worth Rs 80.65 lac which include sand, 3 lorries and one JCB earthmover. The police raid took place on the early morning of Saturday January 28.

ACP from Mangaluru South Sub-division received information from a credible source that one JCB earthmover was filing illegally mined sand into some lorries. ACP instructed the Mangaluru rural police station personnel to act immediately.

All the people involve with mining and loading sped from the scene, upon seeing police personnel. Police have registered a case.
