Police take children into custody

Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police took 13 children into their custody from city railway station on suspicious grounds on Saturday. A total 47 children had arrived from Bihar to Mangaluru. In that only 34 of them had valid documents.

The children came with their warden to the Madrasa at Jamiya Masjid at Kudroli owned by Mohammed Masood. Other 13 children did not carry any documents. After registering a case, police have handed over these 13 children to child welfare committee at Bondel.

All 47 children are from Bihar. They arrived in Mangaluru for Madrasa education. Police suspect that illegal human trafficking was taking place. Police are investigating.
