Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurates Krishi Mela

Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment inaugurated Krishi Mela – 2017 at Zonal Agricultural and Horticultural Research Centre and Agricultural Science Centre, Brahmavar, which was organized by various Agricultural and Horticultural departments and Research Centers.

"The state government is providing various facilities and benefits for the farmers in various schemes like Udyog Kathari Yojana, Krishi Bagya Schemes etc., Subsidies to various yields like coconut, areca nut, paddy and others. Government has also been providing the subsidy to purchase of machinery for farmers. The farmers should take advantage by utilizing mechanized farming and get better yield with less cost of production. Wild animals are great enemy for the farmers. In order to make solution from the loss of farmers, the meeting will be held between Forest department, Agricultural department and other concerned department," he added.

The programme started with invocation and farmer song by Shri Ganesh Gangolli. Dr. S. U Patil, Asst. Research and Development Director, Zonal Agricultural and Horticulture Research Centre, Brahmavar welcomed the gatherings. Dr. M. C. Naik Research Director, Agricultural and Horticultural University, Shivmogga delivered keynote address.
