Puttur liquor shop reopens after HC order

Puttur: Karnataka high court stayed an order from DK DC to close a liquor shop functioning on government land last month. The court has stayed DC’s order for six weeks and following the stay order the liquor shop has reopened on Sunday.

DK DC recently issued an order to close the shop immediately following the pressure from the public. The concerned authorities sealed the shop following order from DC.

However, the owner of the shop moved to Karnataka HC, against DC’s order and managed to get a stay order. The liquor shop at first opened operations on September 11, 2017 amid strong opposition from the villagers.
