Mangaluru: Suspended BJP leader R Srikar Prabhu, who plans to contest assembly election as an independent candidate, has filed a complaint with the election commission against a news portal.

Prabhu, who plans to contest from Mangaluru City Southconstituency, has alleged in his complaint that the news on him appeared on the website is far from truth.

“When I am preparing to contest election, the website has published baseless news report against me. The website has made a baseless claim that I have been suspended from the BJP for making efforts to humiliate MP Nalin Kumar Kateelduring 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Further, the website also has made another baseless claim that I was a ticket aspirant during 2013 assembly election. The editor of the news portal has not taken my opinion before publishing such baseless report against me,” Prabhu stated in his complaint.

Prabhu requested the election commission to take appropriate action against the website.
