Mangaluru: DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has taken a dig at BJP leaders for blaming Congress for the communal unrest in the district. Rai challenged Union Minister Sadananda Gowda and Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje to contest against him and Minister Khader in the upcoming assembly elections.

Pointing out that Congress has always strived for communal harmony and unity in the society, he said the people were aware that communal unrests had occurred in the past too due to the provocative speeches. Rai said he has asked the Chief Minister to arrest the main forces behind the communal clashes and murders.

Minister U T Khader criticised the Parivar organisations for holding protest despite Section 144.
