SAC Computer Science Department holds national level animation seminar 'Sparkle'

Mangaluru: The department of Computer Science, Application and Animation of St Aloysius College (autonomous) organised 'Sparkle 2018', a national level animation seminar at the Fr L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI block.

The chief guest of the event was Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director of AIMIT, Beeri campus who inaugurated the seminar by lighting the lamp.

The audience was then addressed by the chief guest who commented that we live in a volatile world and we need leaders who have creativity inculcated in them.

The principal of St Aloysius College, Fr Praveen Martis SJ presided over the function.

The speakers for the sessions were B S Srinivas, CEO - VedAtma Animation Studios, (secretary of ABAI) who spoke on the career options in New Age Media. "New Age Media has been a key factor in globalisation which has also led to the 'death of distance'."

The second session was taken up by Ganesh Papanna, director of Thought Cloud Studios (vice president of ABAI) in which he spoke about the importance of IP, challenges and opportunities in animation. "We live in a world where value of creativity is misused by commercial sources and copyrights."

The last session was taken up by 3D animator, Amith Sanjeev, Rolling Dice Studios who highlighted the importance of working as a team in the animation field.

The seminar will also allow students to showcase their talent in the field through various competitions such as video ad making, poster designing and pencil sketching.
