The students from various countries are studying in Mangaluru and it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure their safety, the members of the organization urged.

"It is our duty to ensure safety of all students, especially those from foreign countries. We have come across incidents of racial attacks in Greater Noida and Bengaluru. It has created a situation of apprehension among students, who come here from abroad for studies," said SIO district secretary Mubariz.

The district administration should conduct a survey on foreign students studying in various institutions in the district. In addition, police and other officials should hold meetings with foreign students to understand their problems and measures to be taken to address them he said, adding that these measures will make foreign students feel safe here. SIO Mangaluru city president Mubeen Bengre and members Ammar and A R Hashir were part of the delegation that met the DC.
