SIT student first recipient of INTBAU Scholarship

Mangaluru: Sanketh P Bharathish, student of Srinivas Institute of Technology is the first scholarship recipient of International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism (INTBAU) Scholarship.

This year INTBAU launched the biennial travel scholarship to anchorage the next generation of researchers and practitioners of traditional architecture and to support research of clear value on May 31.

Applications were invited from full time architecture students across the globe. The panel of judges included Lauren Banks, INTBAU programme coordinator, Jeremy Cross of Prince Foundation International Network. Manager, George Saumarez Smith of ADAM Architects, Ross Sharpe of Yiangou Architects and other INTBAU chapter members from USA and London confirmed Sanketh's proposal on June 2 after the interview by its interest and strong relevance to the World Congress agenda which will be on November 27 and 28 in London. He will receive a grant of £ 2,000 for his proposal on proportional relationship of traditional architecture and its adaptation to modern practice.

Sanketh had worked on research projects including heritage documentation under Dr Shaila Bantanur of Srinivas Institute of technology. He was also part of the winning team of Rhichard H Driehaus international competition under the team headed by Anne Fairfax of 'Fairfax and Sammons architects', USA.
