SJEC receives life membership of Institution of Engineers, India

Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor received a life membership of the prestigious Institution of Engineers, India (IEI), on May 4. The official announcement of the same was made during a ceremony held at the Institution on Friday, June 9.

SJEC plans to avail the best possible opportunities provided by IEI for the benefit of its students and faculty. The institution is proud of having one research centre per department and eight research centres across the college.

With the corporate membership, the Institution which is already committed to R & D through research centres in all departments will strive towards seeking financial support in continuing its cutting-edge research in future.

The Institution of Engineers (IEI) was established in 1920 and has its corporate office at Kolkata. It provides a vast array of technical, professional and supporting services to the government, industries, academia and the engineering fraternity, operating through its 114 Centres located across the country and five overseas chapters.

IEI has forged partnership with the globally renowned journal publishing house Springer.

The institution provides technical collaboration and sponsorship for arranging technical seminars, symposia, and workshops, among others. Institution members may avail the opportunity for R & D grants from IEI. Membership ensures a concessional rate for participation of deputed staff in seminars and workshops. It awards membership of various categories such as associate, member and fellow membership.
