SMVITM organises orientation program for newly admitted B.E students

Udupi: Shree Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal organized an orientation program for the newly admitted B.E students at the institute premises on 31 July 2016.

The major objective of the program was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the B. E. course, to make them aware of the rules and regulations of the Institute and ensuring parental participation in monitoring the performance of the students and contributing to the overall growth of a student.

The program was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. B. Manjunatha Somayaji, former professor of Poorna Prajna College, Udupi, The Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Director, ICAS, Manipal University, Manipal and other dignitaries on the Stage.

Prof. Dr. B. Manjunatha Somayaji, while delivering a speech on the occasion, said that students are the greatest asset of the college and are the ambassadors of the college. He appealed all the students to use the facilities in the college and have a holistic learning during their stay in the college. Students should have high aim, cultivate good habits, abide by the rules, have good vision and should strive hard to achieve their set goals.

Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal started his quote from Swami Sivananda “Put your mind, soul and heart into even smallest work one do, to excel in life”. He said the key to success in any one’s life is the three Ds, Dedication, Determination and Discipline. Students should be competitive, creative and apply their logical thinking in life to achieve their goal. He also said along with developing their technical skills, students should be humble, frank and should have hunger to achieve knowledge to be a good engineer.

Dr. Thirumaleshwar Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, highlighted the major achievements of the institute on both the academic and non-academic fronts, and also explained the role of the college in providing better placements to its students in the reputed companies . He also mentioned about the scholarship facilities provided in the college to the needy and eligible students and expected the students to utilize the facilities and excel in their career.

Mrs. Raviprabha the Student Welfare Officer of SMVITM briefed the students about the rules and regulations of the institute and requested the students and parents to abide by the institutional rules and norms.

Dr. Reena Kumari, coordinator for the first year Students of the college gave necessary information about the academic format of the B.E Course. She explained the University and Institute rules and regulations to be followed by the students.

In his Presidential address Mr. Ratnakumar, Secretary, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, expressed his gratitude to the parents and students for having faith and confidence in the institution, and assured that the college and the management is bound to give the best facilities.

Mr. Anand V. R, Associate Professor Department of Civil Engineering, welcomed the gathering. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Nagaraj Rao of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The program started with invocation by Sahana Udupa and the Programme was compeered by Ms. Ramyashree and Ms. Sowmya Bhat.
