Published On : 03 Jun 2019   |  Reported By : Vincent Mascarenhas

Rev Dr Ronald Serrao the Rector of St Joseph Inter-Diocesan Seminary Jeppu inaugurated the thirteen novena in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony by hoisting St Anthony’s flag and garlanding the statue of St Anthony at St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu on 31st May.

In his message Fr Serrao said that St Anthony was born in Lisbon of Portugal but he served in Padua of Italy. There are two things the devotees of St Anthony should pick from the life of St Anthony i.e. importance to the Word of God. Saint Anthony preached the Word of God and thus inspired many people to live a holy life. Secondly he performed many miracles. Through these miracles he reached to the people in need. As devotees of Saint Anthony we too need to practice these virtues, he said. Later at 12 noon Fr Serrao offered the Holy Mass for the intention of youth and preached a homily.

The annual feast of St Anthony will be celebrated on 13th June.

Fr Onil D’Souza the director of the Institutes recited St Anthony’s chaplet with the rosary. Fr Thrishan D’Souza the Asst director conducted the novena. Fr Roshan D’Souza was present on the occasion. A large number of devotees participated in the devotion.
