Scarp dealer attacked for not paying hafta

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, Khalid (45) of Ulaibettu who is a scrap dealer was assaulted by some goons at Vamanjoor for not paying Hafta on Sunday. Khalid’s refusal to pay hafta led to the attack. Three of the accused have been identified as Rahif, Nawaz and Mustafa.

The incident occurred at around 6 in the evening when Khalid was about to close his shoo. Six men approached him and reportedly demanded hafta. When Khalid turned down their demand they attacked him with iron rods and even abused him.

The accused have several cases against them. The injured Khalid has been hospitalised. A case has been registered.
