Scuba diving journey begins in Kaup

Udupi: Scuba diving was inaugurated at Kaup beach on Sunday by Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA and former minister.

Addressing the gathering, he said, "Several programmes are in the pipeline in order to develop Kaup beach as a tourist destination. Scuba diving will be the center of attraction. In order to attract foreign tourists, intenational airport has to be built at Padubidri."

Search was underway since two years for a suitable spot for this sport. Finally, as per the opinion of the boat federation, Mulky Par, which is eight km into the sea from Kaup beach, was selected.

The Scuba Diving facility has been set up a joint initiative of the Udupi District Administration and West Coast Adventures, which has a three year contract to offer this facility. It has expert instructors and already has introduced Scuba Diving at Nethrani island, Mumbai and Goa.
