Sharada Vidyanikethana's Yashas R secures gold in state-level Taekwondo

Mangaluru: Yashas R, class nine, of Sharada Vidyanikethana Public School, Talapady, won the gold medal at the State Level Junior Cadet category of the Taekwondo Championship held at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Shivamogga from June 30 to July 2.

With this victory Yashas has qualified to represent the school and state at the national level championship for the under-53 kg weight category. He will be the second champion to represent the school at the national level.

Last year, two students of the school, Nikhil Shetty and Gautham P Nayak represented and won gold and bronze medals respectively for the 32kg-weight category.

Sharada Vidyanikethana proudly introduced the art of self defence and continuously encourages students to represent in different levels of championships. The management, principal, vice principal, teaching and non-teaching staff members congratulated the winners and school coach Gururaj Itagi, an international-level champion himself.
