Shri Avil Deepak D’Cruz, has chosen for the ‘12th Kalakar Puraskar’.

CARVALHO GHORANNEM & MANDD SOBHANN 12th KALAKAR PURASKAR

Mangaluru: Out of the many Nominations / Applications received, the Mandd Sobhann Core Committee has chosen Shri Avil Deepak D’Cruz, for the ‘12th Kalakar Puraskar’.

Shri Avil Deepak D’Cruz is a young Konkani dancer and choreographer, who has been dancing to and choreographing for Konkani performances of various Konkani artistes since 16 years. Being the leader of the dance troupe Nach Sobhann, he has promoted various Konkani dance-forms – ‘baila’, ‘dekhnni’, ‘manddo’, ‘baila dandia’. For his contribution in promoting Konkani dance forms, he has been chosen for the Kalakar Puraskar.

Kalakar Puraskar is awarded to deserving artistes, one every year, of Karnataka origin, chosen from the field of Konkani Folk and Performing Arts. The Award is instituted by Mandd Sobhann and is sponsored by Carvalho Ghorannem. The Award consists of a cash amount of Rs. 25,000/-, a trophy and public honour.

The Awards Ceremony will be on Nov. 6, 2016, at Kalaangann, at 6 p.m.. The Ceremony will be followed by the 179th Monthly Theatre Programme titled – ‘Mariola’, a musical performance by Shri Anil D’Sa Pangla. All are welcome.
