Srinivas Institute of Technology welcomes first year BE, BArch students

Mangaluru: Fresher’s day, an orientation programme for first year BE, BArch students was held at Srinivas Institute of Technology.

The programme began with an invocation by Sushma Rani of fourth year BArch.

C A A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University and president of A Shama Rao Foundation presided over the function. Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro-chancellor of Srinivas University and vice president of A Shama Rao Foundation, Mitra S Rao, director of Srinivas University and secretary of A Shama Rao Foundation were the guests of honour.

C A A Raghvendra Rao, in his presidential address to the newly inducted engineering students, stressed on the need to aim high and work hard to achieve their goal. He also emphasised the necessity of leaning on the guidance of faculty members and parents in order to be successful at their career. He also advised them to be good citizens by imbibing human values.

Dr A Srinivs Rao provided adequate suggestions to the students and stressed the importance of education. He also encouraged them to participate in every constructive activity of the institute. He highlighted the need to undergo the skill development training programmes offered by the college in order to be employable. He urged them to emerge with flying colours.

Mitra S Rao appealed to the students to be aware of their surroundings and to select the right kind of friends.

Dr Shrinivas Mayya D, principal welcomed the freshers and presented a bird’s eye view of the rapid growth of the institute since 2006. He also explained the facilities and opportunities made available by the institute along with rules and regulations of Visvesvaraya Technological University. Prof Jayaram Thumbe delivered a lecture on 'Engineering - Success path'.

The programme began with an invocation by Sushma Rani of fourth year BArch. Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde, head of the department of aeronautical and automobile engineering welcomed the gathering. Senior students shared their experiences in the college. The freshers and their parents expressed their aim in life and expectations from the institute. Prof Anant Kumar Kulkarni, convenor of the programme proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Ambika Malya G anchored the programme.
