St Aloysius B Ed College holds inaugural of 2nd, 4th semester

Mangaluru: St Aloysius B Ed College, a premier institute of teacher education in the city, inaugurated the second and fourth semester sessions.

Chief guest, Dr Lokesh KM, registrar, Mangalore University, addressing the gathering, said, “The world is full of competition. Teacher trainees should strive better to acquire depth knowledge in their subjects. Success cannot be achieved without hard work. If teachers are to be employed in any prestigious institutions they must equip themselves with depth knowledge, a positive value system, skills, creativity and dynamism. Students must make use of library extensively.”

He also appreciated the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society for imparting value based and quality education crossing the barriers of caste, creed and other diversities.

Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions presided over the programme. In his address he cited ‘Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.’ He said, “The two-year B Ed programme is an elaborative and challenging one. Every student must make use of the time not only to become just teachers, but educators.”

He highlighted the meaning of studies and education broadly. He also spoke about the Ignatian Pedagogy that is, Context, Experience, Reflection, Action and Evaluation to become efficient teachers and deal with any situation.

Dr Lokesh was felicitated by the management.

Earlier, the programme began with a prayer song led by Sr Alvita Barnes. Lalithanjali and group welcomed the gathering through their dance. Roshni Kumari and group displayed an entertaining dance.

Fr Eric Mathias, director of the college, delivered the welcome address. Nirmala Mary introduced the chief guest to the audience. Neha Rawat proposed the vote of thanks.

Sr Jennifer Mascarenhas compered the programme. The college anthem was sung at the end of the programme. Joshna B, lecturer, organized the programme.
