St Ann’s College of Education conducts service learning programme

Mangaluru: St Ann’s College of Education, as part of its platinum jubilee programme, conducted Service Learning programme in Bengre.

Service Learning is an innovative and unique teaching learning method that connects meaningful community service experiences with academic learning, personal growth and civic responsibility. The objective of this activity was to teach the student teachers community orientedness, to develop character virtues and interpersonal habits such as respect, responsibility, empathy, co-operation and citizenship values.

Towards this end, St Ann’s College of Education organised a Service Learning programme at Government Higher Primary School, Sand Pit, DK Higher Primary School, Kasaba Bengre, and St Ann’s Kannada Primary school.

Teacher trainees conducted a sports meet and entertained the school children through a short cultural programme on environmental issues.

Prizes were distributed to the winners after which sweets were given and student teachers interacted with the children. Staff members accompanied the three groups and guided them.

Suresh Kumar T, the physical instructor co-ordinated the programme.
