Kasargod: A special police team has arrested Surendra Shetty Bantwal, a Tulu actor in connection with the recent incident at Baddakatte in Bantwal wherein he had allegedly attacked some BJP workers with a sword.

Surendra along with a few others had reportedly attacked Pushparaj, Ganesh, Charan and others at a restaurant and also abused them before fleeing the scene. It was believed that this attack on the Bajrang Dal activist Bhuvith Shetty gang was in retaliation to an attack that took place at a salon on June 10. The video of the attack on June 11 had gone viral.

The accused Surendra Bantwal who was a rowdysheeter had joined Congress some time back. He had acted in the Tulu movie Chaali Polilu. The arrested duo is expected to be produced before the court today.
