Udupi: Prior to the foundation stone laying ceremony, the new site office was inaugurated by Charles Elizabeth D’souza and Theresa Quadros by cutting the ribbon. Rev Fr. Philip Nerry Aranha held the prayers and blessed the office. Jerry Vincent Dias, President of Udupi Builders Association and other dignitaries were present during the blessing of the new site office.

The foundation stones were blessed by Rev Fr. Philip Nery Aranha, Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church and Rev Fr. Anil Fernandes Asst. parish priest of Mount Rosary. Followed by the foundation stone laid by Jerry Vincent Dais, Jerry D’Souza, Promoter of GSJ Galaxy, Arthur and Luke D’Souza of Theresa Cottage, Janardhan Thonse Zilla Panchayat member, Chandrakanth Naik Udupi Municipal councilor and Collin D’Souza along with Darwin D’Souza laid the each foundation stones.

The stage programme was held after the foundation stone laying ceremony where Jerry Vincent Dias presided the programme. Addressing to the gathering the chief guest Pramod Madhwaraj Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment after inaugurating the programme with lighting the lamp said that recently Udupi bagged the clean district in the country and bagged 6th district out of around 600 districts as per the recent studies. Not only that out of 6000 gram Panchayats in the country top 250 gram panchayat are from undivided D.K. district. We should be proud become the citizen of the Udupi district.

He further said that for the development of Udupi city Rs. 300 crores sanctioned and certain formalities are pending. We have got the financial approval for drinking and drainage facilities in Udupi Municipality limit including Santhekatte, Kallianpur. He declared that he will obviously do the work for the over all development of his constituency including Udupi City without any corruption.

Yogish Chandra Architect and Engineer briefed about the GSJ project. Pramod Madhwaraj released the Brochures of the Galaxy project.

During in his presidential address, Jerry Vincent Dias praised the builder Jerry D’Souza for his simplicity. He said the role of Jerry D’souza’s for the development of modern Santhekatte great. He is one of the great contributors for the development of New Udupi City that is Santhekatte, Kallianpur. He is a successful businessman and builder due to his dedication, hardwork, honesty and neatness.

He said that construction of the buildings are not so easy. The present situation changed that lack of support from the government for the industry. With the new rules on sand mining, the situation still worsened due to lack of availability of sand for the construction. Government is suggesting using of M sand which is absolutely not good and durable. The building construction workers left Udupi for their destinations due to slow process of construction of buildings. The overall business decreased marginally due to absence of sand. Now it will be difficult to live happily, he said.

During the occasion, Land Owners, Arthur D’Souza, Luke D’Souza, Collin D’Souza and Darwin D’Souza were honoured. Other two Freeda D’Souza and Jane Furtado from outstations were also remembered.

During the brief stage programme, Jerry Vincent Dias, Rev Fr. Philip Nery Aranha, Rev Fr. Anil Fernandes, Janardhan Thonse Zilla Panchayat member, Chandrakant Naik CMC Councillor, Jayananda Naik former CMC councilor, Charles D’souza, Elizabeth D’Souza, Theresa Quadros, Arthur D’souza, Yogish Chandra Dara, Baptist Dias Entrepreneur were present on the dais.
