Three-day annual General Management Conclave of TAPMI held

Manipal: Maneeshi 2017 – the three-day annual General Management Conclave of TAPMI, Manipal started off on the 28th of January 2017, with the theme ‘Entrepreneurship as Competitiveness.’ The Chief Guest for the event was Mr Gautham Pai, Managing Director of Manipal Technologies Limited.

Vishleshan and Defi took prominence on the first day. Vishleshan is the social analytics B-school challenge designed to test students' mettle in the application of data to understand and solve problems of social nature. Students from top B-Schools presented their analytics acumen in providing solutions for two of the main social problems plaguing India- Energy Security and Malnutrition. Defi is the hackathon consisting of 30 hours of brainstorming, idea generation and an exhibition of the prototypes developed by the participants. The participants pitched their prototype to the investors. Along with these events, various guest lectures and workshops were conducted by industry stalwarts.

Panel discussions were lined up for the second and third days, which included topics ranging from Entrepreneurship and Family Businesses as Growth Engines, Manipal as an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hotspot, Corporate Entrepreneurship, The Role of Policies and Institutions in Fostering Businesses and Entrepreneurship as a Driver for Strategic Human Capital. The eight member panels had intense discussions and gave different perspectives to the topics. The second evening concluded with cultural performances by Mr Ranga Pai's violin recital and YTBN, TAPMI’s band.

The final day was for the participants of Defi to display their prototypes to the college and various investors, which included Nasscom, 10K Startups, StartupXseed and Jaarvis Accelerator. This was followed by the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest for the event was Mr Srinivasa Raghavan N, CT & Mentor, Startupxseed. He gave the closing remarks on the theme and felicitated the winners of the various events. Mr Abhishek Ranjan – Global Head (Sustainability CSR & BFSI Industry Marketing), Prof. Ishwar Haritas - Co-ordinator & Head, DHARITRI (TAPMI Centre for Inclusive Growth and Competitiveness), Mr Vaman Hegde – Convenor, OMEGA and Ms Meera Maria Martin – Convenor, SEG were present.
