Three girls drown in pond

Kasargod: In a tragic incident, three girls belonging to a family drowned in a pond at Kombarabettu in Adyanadka on Saturday February 18 evening.

The deceased have been identified as Fathimath Fazila (11), her sister Fida (7) and their cousin Mumtaz (10).

Fazila and Fida were daughters of Hashim and Zuha, while Mumtaz was the daughter of Zuha's sister Asma and Kasim.

Mumtaz's sister Fasana who was with them did not get into the water. When the three got washed away, Fasana immediately ran to inform other family members who were in the house. Hearing her screams for help, other locals too rushed to the girls' rescue along with family members, but could not save them on time. The bodies were taken to Kasargod general hospital.
