Almost all the countries in the world developed in the field of tourism. But in India due to various legal matters, it could not succeed. We have a large democratic system which also one of the reasons tourism not so developed. In Udupi we have two obstacles to developing the tourism. We have plenty of natural resources. But due to CRZ and Forest laws, we could not achieve a lot in Tourism. As per the CRZ, 500 meters from high tide sea, one can not construct a building for Hotels and resorts. In other countries like Mali only it 10 meters restricted. We have obstacles to developing St. Mary’s Island due to CRZ and Ecological laws. There is beautiful rock structure prevailed in the St Mary’s Island. It is also said that if we do not follow CRZ, the first victim would be fishermen. The interest of fishermen will be jeopardized.
