Tulu actor Surendra Bantwal assaults BJP workers

Bantwal: Surendra Bantwal, a Coastalwood film actor allegedly assaulted BJP workers with a sword in Baddakatte on Monday. Ganesh and Pushparaj who were injured in the assault have been admitted to a nearby government hospital. Accused Surendra Bantwal is absconding.

On Monday afternoon at around 1 pm, Surendra and his gang attacked BJP activists Ganesh, Charan, Pushparaj and others who were in a restaurant at Baddakatte. Bajrang Dal member Bhuvith Shetty had entered a salon and attacked those who were present inside, over alleged insulting posts in Facebook. In the attack, Deekshit suffered injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. A complaint was registered in the police station. Hence, Surendra Bhandary-led gang allegedly assaulted Bhuvith Shetty's gang on Monday in retaliation.

Surendra Bantwal was identified with a right-wing organization in the past and was a rowdy-sheeter. He had joined the Congress recently. He has also acted in the Tulu film 'Chaali Polilu'.
