U T Khader says no to Mulky in Greater Mangaluru

Published On : 18 Jun 2018   |  Reported By : canaranews network

Mangaluru: State urban development minister, U T Khader, said that no urban bodies and villages including Mulky town panchayat would be brought under the proposed Greater Mangaluru as their inclusion gives rise to more complications than achieving development.

Khader opined that including places like Mulky under Greater Mangaluru willl give rise to problems such as provision of basic amenities will be harder. He felt that bringing several villages around Mulky under the town panchayat might prove to be more beneficial. He said that more emphasis will be laid on development of small urban centres.

He said that issues connected with highway like problems for water to drain away from the road, problems faced by pedestrians in crossing the highway etc and recommendation to build skywalks and underpasses for people to cross the road all along the highway will be discussed when he will meet union minister, Nitin Gadkari, shortly along with several people's representatives.
