Udupi District level Teachers' Day and honor ceremony held at Udupi

Udupi: The district administration and G. Shanker family trust jointly organized Udupi district level Teachers’ Day celebration at Shamili Hall on Monday, 5th September, 2016.

The programme began with an invocation prayer by Government High School,Ajjarkadu. Divakar Shetty DDPI, Joint Director of Education Department, Udupi welcomed the gathered. Pramod Madhwaraj, District In – charge Minister, Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment presided over and inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Later Pramod Madhwaraj and guests on the dais were offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr. G. Shanker in his key note address said that state government should give more priorities to the teachers who give and teach good values of the society, they should give them at the state level awards for their outstanding achievements.

Shobha Karandleje local MP during in her message said that the government should look after Kannada medium schools who face competition from English medium schools and try to remain kannanda medium schools. We need to change our current education system in order to remain public sector schools in the state.

During the occasion, felicitation programme for district best teachers’ award, district achievers’ for the teachers was held.

In his inaugural and presiding address, Pramod Madhwaraj said that teachers will get honor all the time even when they retire, which no body will get even the ministers and others. They have the respect through out their life. This year today we have historical day that Mother Therese declared and canonized as Saint. She deserves sainthood due her love towards poor and needy. This is the great day for Hindus who celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and meantime today we are celebrating Teachers’ Day.

D.K. and Udupi districts in education, medical and culturally more developed than other districts of the state. Teachers’ role in developing the students career as well as in the society is great. It is due to teachers two districts developed which will be forefront in the state. As per the Human Development Index, out of 6000 grama panchayats in the state D.K. and Udupi district have been above average. It is due to selfless affords with the services and affords of our teachers, he said.

Shri Dinakar Babu, President of Zilla Pamchayat, Udupi, D. Manjunathaiha Commissioner of Udupi CMC, Smt. Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, President of CMC, Udupi, Smt. Nalini Pradeep Rao, President of Taluk Panchayat, Udupi, Janardhan Thonse, Zilla Panchayat member, Ashok Shetty, National level best teacher awardee and others were present on the dais.

Ashok Shetty also felicitated who awarded national level best teacher for 2015/16 academic year. Meanwhile twenty teachers were honoured as district level best teachers 2015/16 and Eighteen teachers honoured district level best achieving teacher award.
