“Unboxing Artificial Intelligence and Health Care”

Athena Institute of Health Sciences has organized the one day National Webinar on “Unboxing Artificial Intelligence and Health Care” on 19th of July 2024 at Athena College of Nursing from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The President of the program Mr. R.S. Shettian, Chairman AIHS, Prof. Sr. Deepa Peter Principal AIHS, Prof Sunitha Lobo Vice Principal ACON, Dr. Nandini M Principal of Allied Health Science, Dr. Binsha Pappachan KSNC Observer, Ms. Nishel Barboza Organizing Secretory presided over the program. The webinar started with the prayer song by 4th year B. Sc nursing students followed by the Dignitaries on the dais lighted the Indian Lamp and officially inaugurated the program.

The Webinar was conducted through Google Meet. Sr. Deepa Peter welcomed the gathering and Prof. Sunitha Lobo addressed the gathering with a key note. Mr. R S Shettian gave Presidential address saying the importance of AI, motivating and assuring the participants that the sessions would be totally beneficial, gaining knowledge on AI and its use in health care and daily life.The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Hemalatha G HOD in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing. Before commencing with the sessions pretest link was sent to the delegates through WhatsApp and Email. There were more than 250 attendees registered for the event from different colleges in and around the country.

Mrs. Viola Felicita Dsouza, Asst. Lecturer introduced the first Speaker of the day, Rev. Fr. Sabu Thomas Assistant Professor Dept. of English, Scared Heart College, Thevara Kochi. Fr. Sabu Thomas is a enthusiastic educator having an extensive knowledge on the AI. He highlighted the importance of AI tools with hand on experience, which enriched us with a depth knowledge on AI in education, research and health care.

Mrs Thelma Dsouza, Asst Lecturer introduced the Speaker of the second session, Dr Arvind C V Professor, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, NMAM Institute of technology, NITTE, Mangalore. He presented different AI tools which are used in hospitals for better patient outcomes.

Mrs. Priya Carnelio, Lecturer introduced the speaker of the third session Mrs. Lilly Maben Senior Robotic nurse, Team leader, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. She gave us an insight into the robotic surgeries with practical examples and the role of the robotic nurse.

At the end of the webinar a post test link and feed back link was sent to the delegates in the WhatsApp group and Email. The webinar was compered by Mrs. Prashwin 1st year M.Sc Nursing student ACON. On the whole the webinar was a successful event and very informative to the delegates. Hoping that the delegates would use AI tools in future.
