Vikas PU College celebrates World Environment Day

Mangaluru: "Once we destroy the beauty of nature, we cannot regain it," reminded Dr S M Shiva Prakash, head of department of Fisheries Resources and Management, College of Fisheries, Mangaluru. He was addressing the students of Vikas Pre-university College after inaugurating the World Environment Day celebrations held in the campus on Tuesday.

P Shridhar, range forest officer, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, in his address, informed the gathering that every ill action against nature will adversely affect our existence on earth. He exhorted the students to respect our earth and also asked them to grow the plant selflessly so that future generation will be gained by this noble gesture.

Krishna J Palemar, chairman, Vikas Education Trust, presided over the function. He said that human beings were responsible for different types of dreaded diseases and by destroying the nature we were destroying our own self. With the help of Forest department, he hoped to adopt 50 schools of Mangaluru for planting saplings in the school premises.

J Koragappa, trustee, Dr D Shripathi Rao, correspondent, Vikas PU College, Dr Ananth Prabhu G, advisor, Vikas Edu Solutions, Parthasarathi Palemar, coordinator, Vikas Education Trust, and Prof T Rajaram Rao, principal, Vikas PU College, were also present on the occasion.

Shruthi S Bhandary, lecturer in Physics, compered the programme.
