Udupi: The villagers of Kundapur and Shiroor area demand additional compensation amount while their lands are being acquired for the NH 66 road widening.
Mangesh Sanbaug, Advocate from Byndoor spoke at Udupi Press Club and said that the compensation should be given equally to all the people whose lands are being acquired.
"They should provide us in accordance of the present market value. The market price in Kundapur are worth Rs 6 lac while they have given just Rs. 30,000 per cent. This is injustice to the people. The rate which is fixed amount was drastically very less while comparing market value. Vishal, then deputy commissioner of Udupi district has increased the compensation amount Rs. 1.25 lac per cent. On 2nd November 2012 notification the acquired value was Rs. 75,000. So the land owners got the older price, but the value of the land will increase in the market always," he said.
