Voluntary Blood Donation Camp held at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur: Youth Red Cross Society, National Services Scheme and Students’ Council of St Philomena College Puttur and Indian Red Cross Society Puttur jointly organized Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in association with Blood Bank, KMC Hospital Mangalore at St Philomena College Puttur on August 3, 2017.

Dr. Sherin, Medical Officer, Blood Bank, KMC Hospital Mangalore participated as the resource person. She said, ‘Blood donation is one of the noblest contributions that a person can make towards the society. It is not harmful for a healthy person to donate blood. The body of the donor can regenerate the blood within few days.’

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of the College in his presidential address said, ‘Human blood has no substitute. Blood is one which gives life to another person. Blood donation is our human duty.’

Mr. Oscar Anand, Presidnet of Indian Red Cross Society Puttur and Rtn A J Rai, President of Rotary Club Puttur participated as chief guests of the programme.

The convenor of Youth Red Cross Society Mr. Edwin S D’Souza and co-convenor Mrs. Dimple Fernandes coordinated the programme.

Ms. Gowthami welcomed the gathering. Ms. Namana proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Keerthana compered the programme.

Puttur: Youth Red Cross Society, 9KAR BN NCC, IQAC, National Services Scheme and Students’ Council of St Philomena College Puttur and Indian Red Cross Society Puttur jointly organized Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in association with Blood Bank, KMC Hospital Mangalore at St Philomena College Puttur on January 21, 2020.

Dr. Sowmya Shivakumar, Assistant Medical Officer, Blood Bank, KMC Hospital Mangalore participated as the chief guest. She spoke about the significance of blood donation.

Mr. Oscar Anand, Presidnet of Indian Red Cross Society Puttur expressed his compliments to the blood donors.

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of the College delivered presidential address.

The faculty and the students of the college voluntarily donated 147 units of blood.

The convenor of Youth Red Cross Society Mrs. Venkateshwari K S welcomed the gathering. The co-convenor Mr Nilesh Joy Dias proposed the vote of thanks. The co-convenor Mrs. Nancy Lavina Pinto compeered the programme.
