Udupi: The prizes to the winners of the first series of Bible quiz contest for November 2017 published in Uzwaad fornightly were distributed by Fr Stephen D’Souza, director of Divya Jyothi, Udupi Diocesan Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre on December 6.

Hema Menezes of Shirva parish, Jacintha Pinto of Sastan parish and Nathalin D’Souza of Piusnagar parish bagged the first (Rs 5,000), second (Rs 3,000) and the third (Rs 2,000) prize respectively.

The Bible Quiz contest that started in November 2017 in Uzwaad would cover all the Books of the Bible and would run for 17 months till March 2019. The initiative was taken by the Biblical Commission in the Year of Lectio Divina 2017 to promote the reading of the Bible among the faithful. There are three prizes every month (Rs 5,000, 3,000 and 2,000) and at the end the contest, bumper prizes of Rs 20,000 (First), 15,000 (Second), 10,000 (Third) and five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each. The winners are chosen by lots if there are more senders with right answers. The senders of right answers in all 17 issues will be eligible for the bumper prizes. The answers for the Quiz could be sent in the original Uzwaad page only.
