Puttur: UG Department of Social Work, St Philomena College Puttur organized One day workshop on Soft Skills and Key Interest Area Mapping ‘ASHIKA’ on September 3, 2018 in College auditorium.
The Campus Director and Chairman of PG Studies of the College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro inaugurated the workshop and delivered the inaugural address. He said, ‘Today, soft skills play a predominant role in determining the quality of human resource. Soft skills consist of reasoning, common sense, reading skills, writing skills, communicative skills and desire for knowledge.’
The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha in his presidential address said, ‘Social Work graduates have lot of career opportunities. They will be absorbed in Governmental and nongovernmental organizations as well. However, they need to be equipped with soft skills.’
The Directors of Asha Jyothi Academy, Surathkal Dr Ajith D’Souza and Ms Renita D’Souza participated as resource persons. One hundred students of various PU colleges of DK district participated in this workshop.
The HoD of Social Work Mr Paul Herald Mascarenhas, faculty members of the Department Mr Johnson David Sequeira, Ms Nancy Lavina Pinto and Ms Deepika Sanil coordinated the workshop.
Ms Madhushree and Ms Swathi presented the prayer song. Ms Akshatha S welcomed the gathering. Mr David Johnson proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Nithin Sebastian compered the programme.
