YCS creates cleaner, greener world through series of activities

Mangaluru: As part of the annual Pastoral Plan the month of August was dedicated to 'Treading a green path toward preservation' and the Environment month offered the golden prospect to edify and augment both environmental skill and nature of science activities.

Under the effervescent and dynamic leadership of Fr Anil D'Mello parish priest of St Joseph Church, Neermarga, YCS created cleaner and greener world by organizing various environment related activities straddling the month.

Recently, YCS members scrupulously planned and executed the liturgical service. The day continued on a pious note with plantation of saplings by Fr Anil D'Mello, Prakash Pereira and president of the Parish Council, Melba YCS president, brother Cyril Fernandes and Cynthia Renjal YCS animator.

Drawing competition: To bring out the ingenuity and the artistic talents among students a drawing competition was conducted. 39 students from class I to class X participated in the competition.

Topics for the competition accorded for different classes were:
Classes I and II – Visit to a park or save natural resources
Classes III, IV and V – Save the environment at home
Classes VI, VII and VIII - Save water and trees
Classes IX and X – Save the endangered species

Through this activity, the children expressed their thoughts and feelings and developed fine motor skills. Artistes brother Cyril Fernandes and Melba Pereira judged the paintings by the participating artists.
