Youth arrested for provocative WhatsApp post

Mangaluru: Police have arrested one person for trying to disrupt peace through a provocative WhatsApp post. The arrested person has been identified as Mithun K B(28) of Koinadu in Madikeri.

On May 20, a two-wheeler had hit a bus from behind at Golittadi in Nettanige Mudnur. The bike rider had sustained injuries. The bus conductor Nagaraj was waiting for a vehicle to shift the injured rider to the hospital when Nizad, Munaf and two others reportedly abused and attacked him.

On May 21, a breaking news posted on WhatsApp by someone had stated that fanatics had created uproar in Galimukha area and attacked Nagaraj Kallaje of Eshwaramangala. Police later learnt that the locals had hit the bus conductor for delay in shifting the injured to the hospital and that there was no communal hatred behind the attack. Simultaneously, the origin of the WhatsApp post was traced and the accused was arrested.
