Mumbai, May 19 (PTI) Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said "Sarbjit" has been made keeping in mind sensitivity and emotions of the family of the Indian convict.
The Omung Kumar-helmed film is based on life of Indian national Sarabjit Singh, who was convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakaitani court. He died following an assault by fellow prisoners at a Pakistani jail.
"As a team we always make movies to bring it to the audience. We are glad today onwards it (the film) is open to you all to view. We hope you appreciate the efforts of the team," Aishwarya told reporters here at the premiere of "Sarbjit" last night.
"It's a very sincere piece of cinema straight from the heart. As a team, it's important to us that this film has been made sensitively keeping in mind the sensitivity of the subject and the members of the family," she said.
"The fact that Dalbir ji and her family feel validated that is by far the most precious aspect. It meant a lot to me and the team," the "Dhoom 2" actress said.
Aishwarya thanked the Uttar Pradesh government where the film has been declared tax free.
"We are thankful to the CM that the film has been declared tax free in Uttar Pradesh. It means a lot. It means the film will reach wider audience. We hope at more places the film will be tax free," she said.
"Sarabjit" stars Randeep in the titular role while Aishwarya is essaying role of his sister, Dalbir who fought relentlessly for her brother's freedom. It hits screens tomorrow.
