Aug 11: Ravi Verma's debut directorial venture, which will star legend Rajkumar's sons Shivarajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar will be made on a budget of 40 crores. This will be the highest ever for a Kannada film. Until now Darshan's mangnum opus Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna was the highest budget film in Sandalwood. It was reportedly made on a budget of 30 crores. The film was a huge hit and made good profits for it's producer.

The untitled action film directed by Ravi Verma is being produced by Jayanna-Bogendra under Jayanna Combines banner. Jayanna Combines are having good run with their films in box office. Their last three productions 'Mr & Mrs Ramachari', 'Ranavikrama' and 'Bullet Basya' have made good profits. 'Mr & Mrs Ramachari' has broken all records and the film has reportedly made profits worth Rs 50 crores from all sources of revenue.

This film has been in the news from the day it was announced. Initially it was said that Jayanna Combines have backed out from the film due to over budget. However Jayanna clarified that he is producing the film recently.

The film will be a visual treat. Many technicians from Hollywood are said to be working on this project. The film is expected to be launched in January next year, after the lead actors finish their present commitment.

Kannada films are growing in business from past few years. Even after facing so much competition from other language films in Karnataka, the films are doing very well. The budget of big star films are also increasing. Yash's upcoming film 'KGF', which will be directed by Prashant Neel of 'Ugramm' fame will also be made on 40 crores budget.

Looks like golden period of Kannada has already started. The industry is expecting to enter 75 Crores Club soon. Let us wait and see which film will enter the club first.
