Kolkata, Mar 13 (PTI) Reigning superstar of Bengali cinema, Prosenjit Chatterjee, has scotched speculation of him joining politics.
The 53-year-old actor, who has been ruling the Bengali film industry for over three decades, said he was "only born for acting".
"Politics will never happen to me anyway. I have been solely born for acting. I haven't been able till date to accomplish my dreams of film making, direction, and giving joy to people.
"If you ask me about any unfinished dream it is related to my love- that is films. I am not made for politics," Prosenjit told PTI.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the music launch of Goutam Ghosh-directed 'Sankhachil', a joint production of Indian and Bangladeshi producers here, based on the human sufferings due to man-made geographical boundaries separating countries.
There were speculations about Prosenjit's plunge into politics in the run up to the West Bengal Assembly polls.
However the superstar maintained that his fans cut across all parties and he could not antagonize any of them.
In past Bengali film actors Moonmoon Sen, Debasree Roy, Deepak Adhikary, Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Soham Chakroborty had joined Trinamool Congress while actors Rupa Ganguly and Locket Chatterjee joined BJP.
