AAP releases fourth list of Goa candidates

Panaji, (IANS) The AAP in Goa released its fourth list of six candidates on Tuesday which includes a real estate promoter, a former police commando and two who have been in the Congress in the past.

With the release of the fourth list, the Aam Aadmi Party has declared 21 candidates for now for the 40 assembly seats which are expected to go to the polls in early 2017.

The new list of six candidates released includes Ranjit Cotta-Carvalho, a 48-year-old real estate developer who will contest from Fatorda assembly seat. He has been a president of the South Goa Congress unit.

Former Goa police commando Sandesh Telekar will contest from Canacona seat.

To a question, if Telekar had been dismissed from the state police service in connection with a theft case, AAP spokesperson Valmiki Naik said the party had come across no such record.

"If there is a specific allegation, we will look into it," Naik said.

Pradeep Amonkar, 52, a businessman, has been shortlisted to contest from the Thivim assembly seat, while a former sarpanch of Aldona village Ursula D'Souza, 49, will contest from Aldona.

The Curchorem seat will be contested by AAP's James Fernandes, a 51-year-old MBA and a Right to Information activist. The Sanquelim seat features 41-year-old Miling Gauns, a former vice president of the Youth Congress.
