BJP will transform UP, if voted to power: Rajnath Singh

Published On : 08 Nov 2016

Lucknow, (IANS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the BJP will ensure Uttar Pradesh was transformed into a front-ranking state within five years if it was voted to power in the 2017 assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forever indebted to the state's people, specially in western UP, for supporting it in a big way in the 2014 general elections, Singh said while addressing a gathering in Shamli after receiving the ongoing 'Parivartan Yatra' earlier flagged off from Saharanpur.

He linked the progress of Uttar Pradesh to BJP governments both at the Centre and in the state.

He said the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working hard to realise the dreams and aspirations of the masses.

"I cannot say all problems have been solved, but I can vouch by the hard work done by each one of us. I am proud there is no charge of graft against any one of us," the senior BJP leader said.

Talking of the United Progressive Alliance rule from 2009 to 2014 when major scams rocked the government, the Union minister said the present National Democratic Alliance government had ushered in transparent and result-oriented governance.

Referring to Samajwadi Party infighting, Singh said the BJP leadership was hardly interested in the Yadav family feud.

He said what pained him was the fact that the state's people were suffering due to this infighting.

"If the SP feuding did not end soon, the BJP will urge the Election Commission to advance the assembly elections so that the people don't suffer," he said.

The BJP leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said there is no law and order in the state and people were jailed on false charges while criminals are having a field day.
