Financial inclusion at core of govt's focus: PM

Published On : 29 Dec 2015

New Delhi, Dec 29 (PTI) Financial inclusion is at the core of the government's focus and the Centre is working for the empowerment of people especially those belonging to backward classes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here today.

"Our government is 'aap ki sarkar' (your government). We are working for your empowerment," he said inaugurating a national conference of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs.

Modi said, "Financial inclusion is at the core of our focus. We want to create job-creators, not job-seekers."

He said dalit icon B R Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution, but not many know that he was an accomplished economist too.

"Babasaheb rightly said that industrialisation will give maximum benefit to our dalit sisters and brothers," Modi said encouraging young entrepreneurs.

He said the government has also set up a venture capital fund to help people of backward classes.
