Gujarat Elections 2017: Voting for Phase 1 begins

BJP is contesting in all 89 and Congress in 87 seats. BSP 64, NCP 30 and AAP is contesting in 21 seats.

The first phase of voting for 89 seats of Gujarat polls has begun and will continue until 5 pm. Over two crore voters will decide the fate of 977 candidates in this phase. There are a total of 57 women candidates in fray in the first phase. The number of male voters is over one crore one lakh. A total of 24 thousand 689 polling stations have been set up for polling, where 27 thousand 158 EVMsare being used.

BJP is contesting in all 89 and Congress in 87 seats. BSP 64, NCP 30 and AAP is contesting in 21 seats. There is a direct contest between BJP and Congress in almost all seats.

The areas where polling will take place include 48 in Saurashtra, 6 in Kutch and 35 seats in South Gujarat.In the 89 Assembly constituencies, more than 2 crores 12 lakh voters will decide the fate of 977 candidates.Meanwhile, female voters account for more than one crore one lakh.

A total of 24 thousand 689 polling stations have been set up for polling, where 27 thousand 158 EVMs are being used. 27 candidates are in Jamnagar, which is the maximum while the lowest is in Jhagadia and Gandhevi. BJP is contesting in all 89 and Congress in 87 seats. BSP 64, NCP 30 and AAP is contesting in 21 seats.

There is a direct fight between BJP and Congress in almost all seats. The areas where polling will take place include 48 in Saurashtra, 6 in Kutch and 35 seats in South Gujarat.

Preparations for polling are complete and Election officials are already in their respective stations.

The Election Commission has made full preparations in all poll-bound districts and massive security arrangements are in place with a special focus on sensitive areas. All eyes are on the voters & their mandate.
