Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu

Published On : 22 Aug 2014

Jammu, Aug 22 (IANS) The Pakistan Rangers on Friday violated the ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing at Indian positions on the international border in Jammu district, police said.

The Pakistan Rangers targeted the Border Security Force (BSF) posts on the international border in R.S. Pura sector in Jammu Friday morning, a senior police officer told IANS here.

"The BSF has retaliated the firing effectively," the officer said.

Villagers in R.S.Pura and Arnia areas have been asked not to move out and switch off their lights during nights to avoid being targeted by the firing.

The Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir is guarded by the army while the BSF guards the international border.
