MUMBAIKARS SHOW CONCERN TOWARDS THEIR HERITAGE: DR. CHINNAPPA GOWDA
Mumbai, Aug.28: 13th annual yakshagaana award distribution program was held at Billawa Bhavan Shri Narayana Guru Hall, Santacruz (E). Dr. Chinnappa Gowda was present as chief guest and expressed his views.
The program was held in the presidency of Nithyananda Kotian. Jaya C. Suvarna- President of the Raastriya Billawa Mahaa mandal as well as the sponsoror of the award, inaugurated the program. Dr. Sunitha M.Shetty, H.B.L. Rao- Senior Yakshagaana otientalist and C.T. Salian- Head of Shri Guru Narayana Yakshagaana Mandali were present as honorary guests. Dr. Chinnappa Gowda handed over Annual Yakshagaana Award-2017 to M.T. Poojary, a Senior Yakshagaana Artist, and congratulated him.
Dr. Sunitha Shetty, M.T. Poojary, H.B.L. Rao, Jaya C. Suvarna and Nithyananda D. Kotian expressed their views in the occasion.
Shankar D. Poojary- vice-president of the association, Dr. U. Dhananjaya Kumar, Mahesh C. Karkala- Hon. General Treasurer, Shakuntala K. Kotian- president of women wing were present on the dais. Bhagavata Muddu Suvarna, Kolyaru Raju Shetty, G.T. Acharya and Srinivas R. Karkera were honored by offering bouquet.
Dharmapala G. Anchan- Hon. General Secretary of the association, delivered the introductory speech. Dayanand R. Poojary Kalwa- president of cultural sub-committee, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Eshwara Alevoor- Editor of Akshaya magazine, introduced the guests. Harish K. Hejmadi Complied the program. Ashok K. Kukyan Sasihitlu- Hon Secretary of cultural committee, proposed the vote of thanks.
As a part of cultural program, artists of Shri Guru Narayana Yakshagaana Mandali performed ‘Bhargava Vijaya’ Tulu yakshagaana under the guidance of C.T. Salian.
