Sports is a prestigious field: Rahul Dravid

Mumbai, January 31: “Sports is a very good means for the development of our body and mind. Many people who took sports as their profession have gained popularity around the world. Today, sports field is a respectful and most admired field. I don’t think that this is a small sports event; this event is an opportunity for sports lovers. After coming here I realized that this is a big event and I am inspired by the enthusiasm of bunts” said Rahul Dravid, the international cricket player.

Bunts’ Sangha Mumbai in association with the regional committee of Bunts Sangha Kurla- Bhandup organized the sports meet on Sunday at Sahyadri Kreeda Mandal sports ground, Tilak Nagar, Chembur. Prabhakara L Shetty presided over the event. Rahul Dravid inaugurated the sports event, Rahul Valanj-the president of the Sahyadri Kreeda Mandal was present.

The former presidents of the association - Bhujanga Shetty, Sudhakar S Hegde, Dr Padmanabha V Shetty, Aikala Harish Shetty, Jayaram N Shetty-the executive president of S M Shetty educational institutions were present and inaugurated the sports meet by releasing balloons. Sweekruth Shetty brought the sports torch to the ground. Sagar Mahesh Shetty from Baba’s group received the sports oath on behalf of all.

Prabhakara Shetty released the Mobile App of the association and expressed his joy for the sports spirit of the community. Padmanabha S Payyade-the vice president of Bunts’ Sangha, Ulthuru Mohandas Shetty, CA. I R Shetty, Kishore Kumar Shetty Kuthyar, Mahesh S Shetty, Latha Jayaram Shetty, CA Vishvanath Shetty, office bearers, members of sub-committee and regional committee were present. The sports event began after offering pooja to the Goddess Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari. Vidvan Aravinda Banninthaya conducted the pooja rituals.

Thousands of bunts and others were present. Harini M Shetty, Sarojini Shetty and Shalini Shetty sang the prayer, Gautham S Shetty welcomed all, Jaya A Shetty introduced the guests, Ashok Pakkala, Harish Vasu Shetty and Karnuru Mohan Rai conducted the programme. The sports meet was held under the guidance of Prasanna Shetty, Jaya A Shetty, Vittal S Alva and Shivaprasad Shetty. Arther Fernandis, Jaya Devadiga, Vijaya Shetty V R Karunakar and Vasu Mendan acted as referees. Ulthuru Mohandas Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
