Canara Konkani Association, Borivali celebrated Monthi Fest

Mumbai: Canara Konkani Association, Borivali celebrated Monthi Fest at Our Lady of Immaculate Church, I C Colony, on September 9.

After the evening novena the blessing of the new harvest took place. A procession consisting little children at the lead went to Our Lady of Immaculate Church singing the traditional hymn ‘Sakadd sangata mellyam’. The Holy Mass was celebrated by guest priest Fr Prasant Saldhana.

This was followed by a cultural programme wherein parishioners of all age groups came forth and actively participated in a variety of skits, dances and songs. About 550 Konkani speaking parishioners gathered at Pope Paul hall, where cultural programme was organized by the members of association, and traditional ‘Noven Jevan’ prepared by D’Cunha Caterers was served to all.

On the whole, ‘Monthi Saibinnichem Fest’ was organised by members of the Canara Konkani Association of Our Lady of Immaculate Church, I C Colony. It was held in a very grand and traditional way, with the support of all the members and their families.
