Kanara Cultural Association (KCA) Delhi held a grand celebration of The Feast of Nativity of Our Lady- Montiche fest on 9th September 2018, at Diocesan Community Centre, Gole Dakh Khana. The beautiful decorations and the array of vegetables enhanced the serenity of the occasion and reminded us of the celebrations in our home town. We received an overwhelming participation from KCA members and their families, including new members as well. We received a good response from our Priests & Religious sisters.

The event began with the procession of Infant Mother Mary statue from the Grotto, to show our love and devotion to our beloved Mother, followed by veneration and the Holy Eucharist in Konkani. The main celebrant for the Mass was Fr. Vincent D'Souza, accompanied by KCA Spiritual Director Fr. Anil Walder and founder member Fr. Victor D'Souza. A total of seven priests concelebrated the Holy Mass, adding to the solemnity of the occasion. After the Mass Murdhom Candles were distributed to the sponsors, sugarcane was also distributed as a remembrance of the harvest festival.

KCA President Mr. Vincent Menezes thanked all the priests for their participation. Fr. Vincent D’Souza was felicitated by Mr. Simon Lobo and Mr. Alwyn Norohna on behalf of KCA for taking up the charge as the Chancellor of the archdiocese of Delhi.

The AGM began soon after the tea break, by welcoming the KCA members and observing a few moments of silence to our beloved departed KCA members. The minutes of last year’s meeting were passed. Mrs. Helen Lobo, Vice President of KCA read the report of the activities for the year 2017-2018 in the absence of Mr. Anil Pereira, Secretary. The annual audited accounts of the KCA for the year 2017-18 were presented by Mr. Lancy Paul Furtado, Treasurer. Mr. Loyal D'Souza and Mrs. Promila D'Souza were elected for the post of Youth Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively and were welcomed by the members. Mr. Melvin Lobo conducted the recreational activities and hamper draw soon after, which was greatly enjoyed by KCA members.

A special thanks to our Cultural Secretary Melvin Lobo and his family for taking the initiative for the beautiful decorations and extraordinary cultural celebrations, arranging specially designed KCA trophy which was given to 30 meritorious students of KCA family members. I thank Mr. Anil Pereira for sponsoring the awards. I am grateful to Mrs. Promila and Mr. Maurice D’Almeida for providing meals. I take this opportunity to thank all the KCA members, priests and religious, members of the Executive Committee and area representatives for all their tremendous support and contribution for making this event a great success.
