Mangalore Food Festival Competition Organized by Women’s Wing of Billawara Association Mumbai

Mumbai, Sept. 17:Mangalore Food festival (Tulunadu) cooking competition was organized by Billawara association Mumbai on Saturday evening in Santacruz East at Billawara Bhavana mini auditorium. This program was led by the President of women’s wing Jayanthi V. Ullal. The President of the association- Chandrashekara S. Poojary inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.

The President of Billawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry- N. T Poojary, the director of Vikram travels- Jayashri Shettigar, Jayalakshmi Chandrashekar Poojary were present as chief guests. The Vice-presidents of the Association- Shankar D. Poojary, the former President L. V Amin, the former Vice-presidents- Raja V. Salian and Purushotham S. Kotian, former president of women’s wing- Shakuntala K. Kotian, Varad Ullal, N. M Sanil, Sudha Elvi, Yashoda N. Poojary, the manager of Billawara Bhavana- Bhaskar T. Poojary and others were present on the occasion.

In this program which was organized with the help of Shrimathi S. Poojary, Hemalatha Keshava Salian, Prapthi Manish Suvarna, Krupa K. Bhojaraj, Prabha K. Bangera, women’s wing of local samithis had participated and Vasai local samithi secured first place, Andheri Samithi secured second place and Kalyan Samithi secured third place .The Vice-president of Bharath Bank- Justice Rohini J. Salian, Sharadha Sooru Karkera, Ashok Poojary were present as the Judges and they were honored by women’s wing President- Jayanthi V. Salian.

The members of womens wing welcomed the gathering traditionally.

With the protection and blessings of Mahagowri, Skandamatha, Mahagowri, Shaila Puthri, Siddhidaata, Skandaata, Brahmacharini, Chandra Ghanta, Mahakaali, Kathyayini, Kotichennaya and others, traditional meal of Mangalore had been prepared.The fragrance of tulunadu snacks and meals was drawing the attention of people who were present on the occasion.Among them, Akki Laddu, Golibaje, Arepuda Adde, Kottige, Atharasa, Appa, Neerudose, Uppina halasinakaayi, Appadhadde, Kadale Manoli, Saarena Adde, Manara adde, Idli Chatni Sambar, Guriappa, Neyappa, Thekkerada adde, Pathrode, Gendada adde, Manaradde, Rotti paayasa, Ragi rotti, Pathrade, Kudutha Chatni, Mango Pickle, Nuggeda Soppu baji, thetla, timareda chatni, kanchalada chatni, pathpeda soppu, padhengi munge gasi, Sambar, Avadegasi, bareda, manjal iretha gatti, chilmi, arepuda pundi, maskapundi, kenedapundi, ambade gasi, menthe ganji, menthe laddu, batate thaape, semayper, Mangalore buns and other vegetarian dishes were relishing and people really enjoyed them.

The present Vice-president- Prabha K. Bangera, the honorable Secretary- Sumithra S. Bangera, Joint Secretary- Kusuma Amin, the members of the executive committee were present on the occasion.

Jayanthi S. Kotian- the joint secretary sang ‘Ini eth santosha…Sambrama…, tulunaaduda adugeye…billawara bhavanodeye…’, a self-composed song.Jayanthi Ullal welcomed the gathering and presented the introductory speech. The office bearers honored the Chief-guests and Judges by offering them bouquets and Mementos. The Vice-presidents- Girija Chandrashekar and Vilasini K. Salian recited the prayer. Dharmesh Salian introduced the guests and compered the program. Kusuma C. Poojary presented vote of thanks.
