Muhurtham for “Kaalaaya Thasmay Namaha” play written by Aravinda Shetty Koojakuli

LACK OF ART LOVERS IS A CHALLENGE FOR THE THEATRE: B S KURKAL

Mumbai, May 25: The muhurtham of “Kaalaya thasmay namaha” the play written by renowned theatre artist Aravinda Shetty Koojakuli was held on Monday evening.

In a simple programme organized by Anchor Cultural Group of Mumbai, Retired teacher and senior poet B S Kurkal performed the muhurtham of “Kaalaya thasmay namaha” at Samarasa Bhavan of Karnataka Sangha Mumbai, Matunga (W). During the occasion, writer Shimunje Parari and Ranga C Pujary-the member of censor Board, were present and distributed the script copies to artists and wished goodluck.

 

“At present, there is no lack of money for drama. About six-seven years ago, everything was lacking. But time has changed; now we can get everything in a single minute. Today lack of art-lovers and audience is the only challenge faced by the theatre - said B S Kurkal.

“I trained under Dr Sadananda Suvarna and his discipline and theatre experiences are imbibed in me”- said Shimunje Parari.

“Kaalaya thasmay namaha” will be directed by theatre artist Krishnaraj Shetty. Five artists will be acting in the play and it depicts the social policy. Senior artist Bhavani Shankar Shetty will be acting in main role. Aravinda Shetty Koojakuli, Shubhangi Shetty, Prabhakara Shetty and Drishya Shetty are other artists acting in this play.

During the occasion Laxman Kanchan, Surendra Kumar Hegde, Umesh Shetty, Saa. Daya, Mohan Salian, Prithviraj Mundkur, Pethri Vishvanath Shetty, famous theatre artists, directors, play writers were present. Krishnaraja Shetty conducted the programme, Prabhakara Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
